Decorative Glass Chart

The chart above lists the amounts of Glass needed to fill your Fire Pit based on the size.  It also lists the amounts needed if you use our Lava Rock as a filler.

Firepit Preparation.

1.  The fire ring is designed so the holes can be either on the top or bottom.  Since LP (propane) is heavier than air and tends to sink it is more difficult to light from above.  It is recommended that on LP installations the holes in the ring are left facing up.  For natural gas installations either up or down is acceptable.

2.  Fill the area around and over the ring with something like lava rock, to a depth of about 1" over the ring.  Build up the area to as much as 2" in the middle.  Lava rock or colored glass is available with fire rings as an optional item.  

3.  Sand, washed rock, or gravel can be used as a filler below the fire ring as a filler if desired to limit the amount of Lava Rock or Glass needed.  Lava Rock can be spread as in step 2 above if desired.

4.  If using glass as a topper, 1 cubic inch of glass weighs .06 lbs.  Use width x length x .06 to approximate the lbs. of glass you will need for 1" thickness.  Multiply total by thickness for total glass needed.

All Stainless Steel pans have an installed nipple to connect gas supply to pan and fire ring to pan.  They have water weep holes in the bottom, holes in the side to accommodate a pilot ignition system and a pilot shield.  They also have a 1" (stainless steel) lip around the top so they can be set in a circular enclosure.

To reduce the amount of glass you need to use, fill the bottom of the pan up:  just to the top of the ring with lava rock.  Lay a stainless steel grate on top of the lava rock.  Then put about 1/2" of glass on top of lava rock.  Then put about 1/2" of finish material on top of the grate.  If you are using glass and want deeper glass content, remove fire ring from pit, fill with lava Rock to about the top of the nipple in the center of the pan, lay grate on top of Lava Rock, reinstall ring, fill with glass to about 1/2" above top of ring.
