Gas Stoves have become extremely popular in the last
10 years. There are literally hundreds of styles and sizes made, one

designed to look like their wood burning counterparts, and modern
design advancements have created simulated logs and flames that
can’t be distinguished from the real thing!

also provide an increased sense of heating security since they don’t
need electricity to operate. You might not have to abandon your home
the next time the power goes out during a winter storm.
Direct Vented - Can be vented straight out
through the wall or up through the roof (Direct Vent)
Top Vented - These units need a chimney or vent exiting the
roof (Natural B Vent)

Ventless/Vent Free - Direct
Vent - Natural B Vent - Wood Burning Stove Descriptions
The choices for a
Vent Free Ventless gas
stove or has never been larger. With
more innovative designs available in Natural Gas and Propane Gas, you can
achieve the look of a vented gas stove and still retain the heat produced by
99.9% efficient vent free ventless gas stove technology.
All of the
vent free ventless gas fireplace
stoves that we sell come
equipped with an ODS safety pilot system, piezo ignition, and have been tested
and approved by AGA/CSA. (These gas stove heaters comply with ANSI
Z21.11.2-2001 Unvented Heaters and also complies with ANSI Z21.60-2000
Decorative Vented Appliances for Solid Fuel Burning Fireplaces.)
Direct
Vented stoves offer a convenient option - No chimney
is needed, just a hole through the wall behind or right
above the gas stove. This gives quite a bit of
installation flexibility, such as locating the unit
below a window. The direct vent pipe is really two
pipes, one inside the other. The outer wall pulls in air
from outside to be used in burning the gas fuel, while
the inner pipe then returns the flue exhaust back
outside. This “sealed” system is very safe and efficient
because no air from inside the home is being used for
combustion.
All
of our Direct Vent Gas Stoves are available with natural gas or LP
gas burners. Gas stoves can all be operated manually or with a
wall-mounted thermostat or hand-held remote control to provide even,
reliable heat - even during power outages!
B-Vent
(Natural Vent) gas fireplace stoves are designed primarily for decorative
use. Some models do have a glass window
so the existence of a window on a gas heating stove does not define its
product classification.
B vent gas stoves use room air for
combustion and vent fumes through a vent or chimney that must
terminate vertically above the roof line. The key to determining
whether a B-vent gas stove will meet your heating needs is to check
the manufacturer's listed efficiency rating (gas consumed x
efficiency = heat output).
If you live in a warmer climate where you want the
aesthetics of a fire without much heat, this may be the appliance
for you. Likewise, bedrooms and smaller rooms may be a good
candidate for a b-vent fireplace, but please check building codes to
see if this class of fireplace is approved in your locality or for
installation in the room where you'd like to use it.
Like all our gas products, these free-standing gas
stoves are designed to vent their exhaust outside the home.
With rapidly
increasing prices from ALL manufacturers of gas and wood
heating equipment, we have eliminated pricing from some
of our pages.
Please call us for SPECIAL
INTERNET PRICING on those products.
All of the products we sell are AGA,
OMNI, RADCO, CSA,
ICBO, UL, ULC approved.
ODS System (Oxygen Depletion
System)

All
Vent Free
gas fireplaces
are rated at 99.9% efficiency. All vent free systems will have
a mesh fixed screen or a wire draw screen. Since all oxygen
needed for combustion is drawn from the homes interior, glass can
not be placed on the front of any vent-free appliance. All
vent free systems are equipped with an
ODS (Oxygen Depletion System)
to insure that if the oxygen level
in the home drops approximately 2% the vent free appliance will shut
down. Some manufacturers would recommend that any smoking
object not be burned in the room with a vent free heater as the soot
from the object (Incense, Candles, Air Freshener) can be drawn into
the burner of the vent free appliance and could cause a sooting
incident.
Zone Heating Saves Money!
Energy prices are
expected to be at record highs this winter. Did you know that?
Check out our article on Zone Heating.
Zone Heating Saves Money. Since our
vent free / ventless gas logs carry some of the highest efficiency ratings in the
market place, you can be sure that they will do the job when the
Power is off.
Vent Free Cuts
Heating Cost
Tired of chopping wood? Try a
Vent Free / Ventless Gas
Stove that
is 99% energy efficient
and see how much heat can really be produced from your fireplace.
The
vent free gas
stove inserts come in many styles to compliment your homes
decor and will heat even in a power outage.
"Vented" vs.
"Vent Free" - What Type of Gas Stove You Need?
Do you want a realistic
looking, wood fire substitute? Are you more interested in
the most efficient way to heat your home? Here are some
facts that should help you choose between a vented or vent
free gas stove.
Vented Gas Stoves:
-
These gas stoves must be installed with a fully functional
co-axel flue system, to draft the
smoke and combustion gases from your home.
-
These gas stoves have been available for
many years and are still the most popular.
-
Vented fireplace stoves are equipped
with logs that most
resemble a realistic wood fire.
-
They are available in Natural Gas or
Liquid Propane Gas.
-
Most of the vented gas stoves that we
offer are vented with 4" x 6 5/8" direct vent gas flue.
-
The gas stove fireplace can be placed in
a corner, on a wall, and vented directly to the outside.
-
Achieve the look of an antique gas stove
with 2008 technology. Choose from Cast Iron,
Soapstone, and Contemporary steel.
Vent Free Gas Stoves: (Ventless,
Unvented, or Non-Vented)
-
Vent Free (also known as non-vented,
unvented or ventless) stoves do not require a chimney.
-
They keep 99 percent of the heat
produced in your home, and are very efficient as a
primary heat source.
-
All units are equipped with an ODS
(Oxygen Depletion Sensor). This device cuts the flame
off if the oxygen level in the air drops below a safe
level. This situation is very rare.
-
Vent Free stoves can be placed anywhere
gas can be obtained.
-
Some states (California, Massachusetts,
and a few others) require special permits in order to
operate non-vented appliances indoors. It is the
customer's responsibility to know his or her local codes
and limitations.

Advantages of Vent Free or Ventless Gas
Stoves
Easy installation Since the mechanism does not involve the installation of
chimney, installation of a Ventless Gas Fireplace Stove is a
very easy, smooth process and can be erected almost
anywhere.
Inexpensive Nature Gone are the days, when you were required to collect the
logs of costly firewood. Vent free gas stoves come with their
own sets of gas logs which cut down the costs significantly.
100% energy efficiency As, the Vent free gas
stove does not require the chimney any
more, it ultimately becomes highly energy efficient. In
other types of gas stoves which involves chimney as their
venting source, about 20 to 30% of the heat escapes through
chimney, which is prevented in these systems.
Clean flame
Because of the specific burner elements present in the
system, this system produces much more controlled burning
compared to their other counter parts. This controlled
burning helps in producing clean, yellow flame causing
complete burning of the gas.
Reduced Pollution
Due to the controlled burning, very small amount of carbon
monoxide is released in the air, which is the by product of
the combustion process. Reduced amount of carbon monoxide
release means reduced pollution.
Moreover, vent less gas
stoves
certified by the American Gas Association (AGA) or
Canadian Gas Association (CGA)
come with
Oxygen Depletion Sensors
(ODS).
These sensors can trace and identify the level of oxygen
present in the room. If in case, the oxygen level in the
room gets depleted beyond the marked level, then these
sensors cut off the gas supply to the gas stove resulting in
stand still of the system. Again if these sensors become
defective due to any reasons, the system automatically
switches over to safe mode where it cuts of the gas supply.
No ashes, sparks Unlike their previous counterparts, there is a complete
absence of any dirty ashes or dangerous flash and sparkles
thanks to the presence of spark screen.
Control Options
It gives you the facility of instant on and off. You can
control the system by both ways- manual or remote.
Creosote Buildup There is no more creosote buildup, a thick yellow to
brownish oily substance derived from wood tar or possibility
of chimney fires.
Advantages
of Vented Gas Fireplace Stoves
Gas stoves
deliver the cozy ambience of a fire in the fireplace without any of the
preparation, maintenance, and cleanup that real wood fires demand. They provide
stunning realism and warmth, as well as safety features to put your mind at
ease. You can add a gas stove to any room very inexpensively and can also be used as a
back-up heating source during power failures because they require no
electricity.
What do vented gas stoves use for fuel
Gas stoves use either natural gas or liquid
propane. Natural gas stoves are the most popular option and typically generate
more heat than fireplace stoves that use liquid propane, which are generally used only in
places where natural gas is not available.
How are vented gas stoves different from
ventless gas stoves
The primary difference is that ventless gas stoves are operated with out a chimney, which keeps significantly more
heat in your home while vented gas stoves operate with an open flue system to produce
a flame that looks more similar to a real wood fire flame. Basically, ventless
gas stoves provide more warmth than ambiance and vented gas stoves provide a more
realistic flame with stronger ambient firelight.
Are vented gas stoves expensive to operate
Because they are about 80% efficient, vented
gas stoves are generally quite inexpensive to operate. A gas stove's BTU (British Thermal Unit) output determines how much fuel it
will use. Contact your local gas provider for current information regarding
specific gas and operation costs.
Which produces more heat, vented or
ventless gas stoves
Because about 20% of the heat generated by vented gas stoves is lost through the open chimney, they are more ideal for ambient
light and a realistic flame. Ventless gas stoves are much more efficient, and
therefore use less energy to generate more heat in the home.
Should I use a carbon monoxide detector
in conjunction with a vented or vent free ventless gas heating stove
Any energy source can produce carbon monoxide,
which is why a detector is recommended in every home.
What are some optional controls for my
vented gas stove
Base models of gas stoves include millivolt control valves inside
the fireplace stove to ignite the gas. Most gas stove models can be operated by remote
control or wall switch while others can be controlled by thermostat or timer to
increase efficiency.
Do the embers inside my vented gas stove
burn and will they ever need to be replaced
The glowing accent embers that complete the look
of many gas stoves do not actually burn and therefore do not need to be replaced.
They are made of a mineral called rock wool that is organic and fireproof.
